Who I am
Hi, I’m Emilie!
My name is Emilie, I am an experienced physiotherapist, mum of 2 little cuties, and a keen trail runner and yogi in my spare time.
I am passionate about helping you move pain free, and do what you love doing. I myself had an injury that kept me away from what I love doing most for “what-feel-forever” 2 years. This is what sparked my interest in understanding more about the body, and where my physiotherapy journey started.
I studied Exercises Science at Concordia University in Canada, and then Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. I graduated of a Bachelor of Exercise Science in 2016, followed by the Master of Physiotherapy in 2018. I worked in a physiotherapy practice ever since, and expanded my experience and skills in treating back pain, running injuries, and various musculoskeletal conditions.
My approach consists of listening to you first, understanding your concerns and personal goals, performing a thorough assessment, and using the physiotherapy techniques that will help you reach your goals.
The physiotherapy techniques I like to use are movements, strengthening exercises, manual therapy, soft tissue massage, dry needling and taping.
I have been trained with the McKenzie method (certification ongoing) and Cognitive Functional Therapy (from Peter O’Sullivan’s Pain Care Academy).
Below are the details of my specialisations in back pain, running injuries, strength and conditioning coaching, Pilates and dry needling.
McKenzie Method
I am a McKenzie student, working towards being a certified McKenzie practitioner this year.
I use the McKenzie method to assess and treat neck and back pain, as well as upper and lower body.
Running injuries
Specialised in running injuries, I completed an advanced training in this domain from one of the best running physio in the UK, Tom Goom.
I also have experience assessing and treating recreational runners.
Strength and Conditioning Coach
I completed the ASCA training Level 1 in Strength and Conditioning Coaching.
I coached people achieve their fitness goals in using strength and conditioning programs, and in incorporating Pilates movements.
Cognitive Functional Therapy
I completed the Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT tier 1) training from the Pain Care Academy.
CFT is an evidence-based approach to assess and treat people who suffer from chronic pain.
